Dr. Bulent Ozgonenel was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1969. He went to medical school in Istanbul and graduated as an MD from the Istanbul University School of Medicine in 1992. He completed a pediatric residency in Istanbul and then served in the Turkish Army as pediatrician. In 1999, Dr. Bulent was accepted to the pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, MI. He went on and completed a second residency and fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the same Hospital under the mentorship of Dr Ravindranath and Dr Lusher. Dr. Bulent also completed a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI under the mentorship of Dr Eisenbrey. From 2006 through 2008 Dr. Bulent worked in Turkey both as a general pediatrician and a pediatric hematologist. Since 2008 he has been working as staff hematologist/oncologist at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. HIs interests include classical hematology, such as the treatment of anemias, hemostasis and thrombosis disorders, leukemias and also transfusion medicine.  All aspects of blood and blood medicine fascinate Dr. Bulent.
