Dr. Chitlur is the director of the Jeanne M. Lusher Center for Hemostasis and Thrombosis at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Jeanne M. Lusher MD Special Coagulation Clinical and Research Laboratory. She completed her medical training in India and went on to complete her residency in Pediatrics at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Her fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology was where she ultimately found her home, at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Chitlur is recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in bleeding disorders and is a leader in research for the advancement of care in bleeding disorders. She is dedicated to the improvement of treatment for patients with heavy menstrual bleeding and created the Flow comprehensive clinic, which combines the expertise Hematology and Gynecology/Adolescent Medicine providers. Dr. Chitlur has collaborated with Detroit Public School District to offer a community outreach program that provides menstrual education to high school students.  The goal for the outreach is to promote early recognition of abnormal period symptoms, assisting with early diagnosis and treatment, aiding in the prevention of severe complications that impact quality of life.
